Adsense Low CPC
For those publishers or owners of blogs or websites, one way to greatly earn a passive income out from it is through Google Adsense.
We can earn revenues or profit through the ads we display that are related to our content we published.
Once we determined our target market or audience, we should work hard to increase its traffic leading to our web pages.
The more traffic, the more chance of ads being clicked. We can always filter or select advertisers that will be allowed on our web pages or choose those with high cost per click earning generation. We can also block certain advertisers.
But what if our cpc is really low?
Recently, a lot of Google Publishers have experienced a low or zero cpc with their Adsense earnings. This began when the global health crisis started to affect almost all countries in the world especially the greatly hit, USA.
If you have been tracking your earnings on a daily basis, you will notice a zero or even low cost per click or cpc with your adsense-driven web pages.
Most especially those having travel or tourism related websites suffered much of this cpc issues. As a number of countries imposed the international travel bans that lead to flight suspensions of airline companies, we only see a few advertisers.
What could be the reason for this?
Let us all check the possible cases.
NICHE
Cost Per Click or CPC is dependent on the type of content posted on our web pages or blogs. So the niche matters and is also a determinant of it. There are those niches that yields a high CPC.
Some of the list are the ff:
HEALTH
TRAVEL
GADGETS/TECHNOLOGY
REAL ESTATE
BANKING
DOMAIN LISTINGS
HOME LOANS
CRYPTOCURRENCY
JOB POSTINGS
CARS/AUTOMOBILE
GOOGLE PRODUCTS
The niches above could bring us a high revenue return of cpc but what if it give us now a low cpc?
We all know that at the other side of the spectrum are the advertisers. They are the ones who wanted their ads or materials to be posted on our web pages through Google and they pay for that. However, with our present situation that affected the global economy, they have decided to minimize their advertising budget or have entirely withdrawn all their campaigns, thus, the publishers may have low or zero earnings this time.
You may see on the reports of $0.00 but that is just due to a rounding off. The budget could be set to like $0.004 but will show that is zero. That is definitely too low for a cpc. This is actually how much the advertisers are willing to pay for their ads being displayed on our content in our website. And this could be getting worse because of the health crisis we all face.
Also don’t try to change the settings in your publisher console like blocking a number of ads displayed as it could reduce cpc too. The more you filter ads, the less chance of ad slots you will be offering on your site, or worse, none will be eligible to appear. You don’t want that right?
TRAFFIC
One factor to consider as well with cpc is the amount of traffic a certain page gets. If there is a low conversion rate, the clicks on the ads can be discounted by a wide margin. That might yield a low or zero cpc. So if you normally earn like $1 per click, because of the low conversion with traffic, the cpc could be $0.02. So it is important to build more traffic and high conversion rate. Make good contents to convince people to actually not just click on the ads buy also buy what is displayed or offered by the advertisers.
It is important that traffic leading to your web pages is organic and not through your manipulation as the algorithms established by Google could definitely determine this and may affect your cpc too.
GEOGRAPHIC LOCATION
There is a strong clamor that Adsense Publishers based in ASIA gets a low cpc. It is because those living in Asia don’t get to spend much online compared to those in the US or Europe. Some advertisers or multi-national companies may establish a small budget with their campaigns in the Asian regions.
So, if you are a publisher, might as well re-align and think of a new strategy targeting the US market.
GLOBAL MARKET
Obviously, the world has been hit by a health crisis and the biggest economy in the world, the US has been down or is greatly affected. So a number of advertisers have pulled out their campaigns or a limited number of them has allocated a small budget only. Thus, publishers now have their revenues dropped.
So it seems everyone is really affected by this pandemic and we wish this would end sooner so things get back to normal.
